MIND YOUR CHARACTER – SUNDAY SPECIAL
====================================
– WHEN LAST DID YOU VOLUNTEER FOR A CAUSE?

*In recent times, I have noticed an interesting trend with me and wish to share as I believe it will benefit you.
*Talking about SERVICE, SERVING, VOLUNTEERING, HELPING, SUPPORTING, ASSISTING …
*A wise man, Mike Murdock said, “What you make happen for others, God makes happen for you.”
*I follow that assertion as a life principle in absolute terms.

STORY 1
*When the Total School Seminar and Exhibiton (TOSSE) clocked 10, I was so excited to see a vision that had run for those number of years. I called the convener, Mrs. Yinka Ogunde and requested her to take a slot of the MIND YOUR CHARACTER with Bosede Olusola-Obasa on Inspiration92.3fm, to talk about the journey in 10 years. I was glad she came; I just wanted to be part of the joy of 10! Her reality with TOSSE@10 is still my own expectation or prayer point.

STORY 2
*Earlier this year also, I was on LinkedIn when I saw a post about the 10th anniversary edition of the All Ladies Affair BUSINESS AND CAREER FORUM (BCF). I was so excited about the progress of the initiative pioneered by Mrs. Shade Toyin-Kehinde. I wrote to congratulate her and asked how I may volunteer for the event. She asked me to do a book review. Now that was at a time when we were launching a new leadership character training product at RCV. Aceeding to her request stretched me because I had to deliver within a short deadline. But I was in, I honestly wanted to be part of the joy of BCF @10! I delivered and also attended the event at Sheraton Hotel in May this year.
*Did you observe that in both examples, I didn’t have to give money, I gave service!
*You have something to contribute to the visions and projects happening around you, especially if they are in consonance with your values.
*Learn to form strategic alliances with people on their world-changing projects; it is wisdom it is character to do so!
*CAUTION: They don’t have to be the ones to reward you but you can’t miss getting rewarded!
*I have enjoyed accelerated platforms and shockwaves-causing benefits due to this lifestyle of adding my mite to other people’s joyous moments.
*Time and space won’t allow now (you can invite me for a story telling session to inspire you and your team).

>>>Fast forward >>>
*I was stunned by the way people rallied to host the fifth National Character!
*I will mention a three instances here:
1. I was surprised to see a chat from Mr. Sanmi Falobi one of those days as we prepared to host NCPS. He apologised that be wont be available but wanted to provide water for participants. (Mind you, the least NCPS attendance is 250!). And He did.
2. Again, I saw a message from Mrs. @Deola Dada, a TV programme producer. She simply informed that she sent a token for preparation!
3. As soon as publicity for NCPS started, I received a fone call from a dear friend in Delta State, asking what I wanted to wear on the D-Day. I told her and to my surprise, she offered to kit me. She got my size. Next thing I saw was her notification to pick the wear up! It had never happened this way since NCPS started in 2015! There were so many others such experiences.
*Here’s my surprise, these gestures were unsolicited and unanticipated!
*But just as I would do, they wanted to make it happen for me!
*I thank all our volunteers again. Service is a geometric subtle lifter!
*Parents, train your children to imbibe the attitude of helping even those who can do nothing for them in return.
*Sow whatever you want to reap!

I’m Bosede Olusola-Obasa, and I’m excited about adding value to you.
